Case: Protester death
Location: San Amaro, California, U.S.
Date of Incident: Mon 8 April 2024
Hi Detective
I've got a new case for ya!
Background:
Political protest always involves risks, but protesters don’t usually drop dead in the middle of a stunt. Yesterday, a 36-year-old environmentalist known only by his codename, Dolphin, died during a protest in the Orca Stadium at Sea Planet in San Amaro, California. The papers are reporting it as a protest stunt gone wrong, but the environmental group responsible, Apocalypse Revolution, have claimed the death was not intentional. Forensics are collaborating with officials to put a name to the body, but they are struggling to locate and match the appropriate identity documents.
Your Mission:
I believe the suspicious circumstances of Dolphin’s death merit further investigation. I have compiled a list of 5 suspects, although as yet we have only succeeded in identifying the codenames, not the full names, of three of them. These are: Woodpecker, Salamander, and Otter. Besides that, we are looking at the profiles of Jonathan Martinez, the Deputy Chairman of Sea Planet, and Clint Roberts, Head of Security.
-
Start by collecting as much information as possible about the deceased and the other 5 suspects in Envelope 1.
-
The evidence in Envelope 2 will help to determine potential motives and opportunities for each suspect. Establish any evidence of jealousy, conflicts, or disputes that may have created a motive for the crime. Then identify their whereabouts and activities at the date and time of death. Let me know when you’ve worked out a motive for each of the 5 suspects, and submit them on the website.
-
To solve the case, access to Dolphin's smartphone will be crucial. Dig through the evidence in Envelope 3 to find clues to what the passcode to his phone might be. Gain access to the phone by entering his password into the online copy of his phone. Review his communications, browsing history, and recent activities to look for evidence incriminating any one of the suspects.
Identify The Killer:
Based on the evidence gathered, identify the most likely suspect and build a compelling case against them. Once you’ve got a name, and your reasons for suspecting them, submit your answers to me to find out if it's correct.
Your dedication and thoroughness in conducting this investigation are paramount.
Good luck!
